In my point of view corporal punishment is always wrong and absolutely disgusting form of discipline. Children are forced to work in fear of their own teacher or parent , which personally I find cruel and unjust. These are some of the reasons why corporal punishment should be abolished in every country around the world and we will never have to look back. The definition of corporal punishment is the physical punishment of people, especially by hitting or beating them. Even in a dictionary it is threatening.
Corporal punishment was abolished throughout New Zealand in 1990. This was around the same time as the human Rights act was increasing around the world. They decided that every human should be treated fairly and with respect. Sadly this wasn’t the case for seven year old hazel Yeates who was adopted at the age of four. Several years later was whipped to death after many hour: yet no one knows what she did wrong or what she did to upset the adopters. I think that you will agree with my point that this was not at all a fair treatment for the little girl. Furthermore when a elementary student is killed by his football coach for more reasons unknown right in front of the children's eyes. When people are killed ruthlessly by people whom you are supposed to trust or to love. How is this discipline? What will this teach them?
2If people all around you are told to “Sit down and shut up!” It will probably happen. But when you are yanked by the ear just after asking for a pen with the teacher red faced and steaming mad. Then suddenly forced to stand in front of all your friends and class-mates, and get thrown to the front of the class and strapped right around the hand this slowly depletes the happiness and confidence inside the class room that you need to learn properly within.
In conclusion corporal punishment is a horrible form of disciplinary action which can be used unfairly and stupidly. It ruins your self-esteem and prevents any extra help needed while learning. There are so many other ways to put people inline. Such as in school suspension, responsibility activities. If all else fails things like boot camp will help with the serious cases. This is my view on how corporal punishment is the wrong way to teach a child: therefore should be banned and recognized as a form of child abuse worldwide.
